Join the JASGA Youth Academy for a fun, beginner-friendly summer reading club designed for kids learning hiragana! In 3 online 40 minute sessions with Utsunomiya-sensei, young learners will explore an easy manga while building their Japanese reading skills in a relaxed and engaging environment.

The JASGA Youth Academy is guided by four lovable Shiba Inu mascots who are all about learning and having fun.Haru dreams of starting a book club—especially because his best friend, Texu the Cowboy (テクス・ザ・カウボーイ), would rather spend all day outdoors riding imaginary horses under the hot Texas sun.
Suzu and Maru think a manga club sounds like the perfect way to stay cool, relax, and practice reading together.
This summer, join Haru and friends in a fun adventure that balances books, imagination, and summer joy!

Suited towards learners who know hiragana/katakana. Basic Japanese sentence structure with adjective and verb conjugations is also recommended to be known (e.g. 大きくて。。。行きました。。。かった). All kanji will have furigana to assist with reading.

Intermediate Level: A2-B1, B1, JLPT N3
Suited towards learners @ pre-intermediate/intermediate JLPT N3. Grammar tenses, dictionary form, and conjugations (e.g. あって、行かない、かった、食べる) for nouns, verbs, and adjectives are encouraged to be known. All kanji will have furigana to assist with reading.
