  • ZenTalks — Let’s Explore! Japanese Culture, Wellness & Ideas.

    Join us monthly to discover Japanese culture through engaging conversations, demonstrations, and hands-on experiences. Explore everything from tea ceremony, traditional arts and crafts, and mindfulness to mind-body wellness, meditation, and Japanese business etiquette. Each gathering offers a new opportunity to learn, share, and connect.

    Some events are exclusive to JASGA members, while others are open to the public for a participation fee.

  • Genki Club | Let’s Move! Japanese Exercise, Walking & Wellness

    Start your morning with movement, fresh air, and community! At the Genki Club, we’ll practice Radio Taiso (Japanese radio calisthenics) in Japanese and English one round of each together, followed by approximately 30 minutes of the Japanese Walking Method.

    Radio Taiso combines gentle, rhythmic movements and stretching to help improve flexibility, mobility, coordination, and balance. The Japanese Walking Method uses alternating intervals of faster and slower walking to build endurance and support cardiovascular health. Together, these accessible activities offer an enjoyable way to move your body, support your well-being, and connect with others.

    All ages and fitness levels are welcome. Come move at your own pace and enjoy a healthier start to your day!

    When: 8:30–9:15 a.m.
    Where: Pease Park Lawn, Austin December 5th. (Ladybird Lake is also a spot we gather)

    Join us weekly. Let’s move, feel good, and grow stronger together!

JASGA Gardening Series

  • Come join the fun every third Saturday of the month and help manicure the Japanese Gardens at Zilker Botanical Garden. Our Ambassador to the garden Alan Cook will be there monthly and have some fun facts about the garden. It’s a blast.

    Volunteers ages (14-17) need to email mackenzie@zbgconservancy.org to sign our youth waiver and register and will need to be accompanied by a parent for their entire volunteer shift. We do not allow volunteering for children under 14 at this time. Thank you for your understanding.

For all ages!

  • Join us every first Saturday of the month and help keep the trees and plants in Kingsbury Commons thriving.

    All ages are welcome; youth under 16 years of age must have adult supervision. Please note that all participants are required to complete the registration. To register your child, please add them as a dependent as you register yourself.

    🌳 What to Expect

    This volunteer opportunity will primarily focus on watering the trees and plants that have been planted in Kingsbury Commons. Volunteers will use buckets to help hydrate the trees.

    🥾 What to Bring and Wear

    Please bring water in a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated and wear comfortable, weather-appropriate, closed-toed shoes and clothing that you do not mind getting dirty.

    We highly encourage you to wear closed-toed shoes and clothing that you do not mind getting wet. PPC will provide all necessary materials, including gloves, but you are welcome to bring your own pair.

    🚘 Parking Information & Meeting Location
    We highly encourage alternate forms of transportation such as walking, biking, public transportation, carpooling, or ridesharing when visiting Pease Park. If you drive, there is a small parking lot in Kingsbury Commons (1100 Kingsbury Street) and available paid street parking along Parkway.

    Additional FREE parking can be found at the Austin Recreation Center parking lot (1301 Shoal Creek Blvd) or the ACC Rio Grande Parking Garage (824 W 12th Street). Both of these options connect to Pease Park via a short walk along the Shoal Creek Trail. 

    Once you arrive, please meet a PPC staff member at the volunteer hub. This is the large metal building just next to the restrooms and amphitheater.

    A note about Pease Park Conservancy's events:
    If you sign up, please make every effort to show up. Our events are free, so all of our community members can attend. But we plan our events to be meaningful for the number of people who register to be there, so please make every effort to attend if you have registered. We understand things come up from time to time, but if you have registered, we look forward to having you there! Thank you!

  • Come join the fun every first Saturday of the month (bi-monthlyl) and create cute Japanese crafts together. Our workshop team will demonstrate how to make/craft cute objects.

  • Let’s watch and discuss a short movie together. Dr. Fumiko Futamura who is working on her new book with Princeton Press will give a short slideshow about the artist Hiroshige then together watch the NHK documentary on Hiroshige’s work. Have some popcorn together and enjoy culture through cinema.

    “History Uncovered: The Hiroshige Code Time and Tide”

    Learn about the influential ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige through the “100 Famous Views of Edo.”

the Shiba’s were Back. Celebrating 5 years of pawrade fun in ATX!

What a celebration! Our Shibas returned to Pease Park for the 5th Annual Shiba ATX Pawrade, bringing five years of cuteness, community, and unforgettable memories!

Congratulations to our award winners: Best in Show, Best Overall Shiba, Best Shiba Talent, Hurricane of Cuteness, Spicy Shiba, Original OG, OG Royalty, OG Star, and the Loopy Award for Best Handler, inspired by Catherine O'Hara's “Cookie’s” husband “Gerry” and real life friend Eugene Levy in “Best in Show.”

A heartfelt thank you to Pease Park for five wonderful years on its beautiful trail and lawn, a lovely setting for our Shibas to enjoy the festivities.
